‘संस्कृतिः संस्कृताश्रिता’- The cultural heritages of India are depicted through Sanskrit, the linguistic heritage of the world. It is a well known fact that every nation should keep their cultural heritage alive along with rapid developments to compete with other countries. We, the department of Sanskrit of Bidhan Chandra College, Asansol under Kazi Nazrul University, take the pride to be a part of providing knowledge of the oldest surviving language in the world to our students. A continuous effort has been done from 1961 till date by a number of eminent professors to enrich the students by their teachings. The department was upgraded to honours soon after few years of incepting the subject as a general course. With every upgradation and modification in education policies the department has also adopted prescribed changes and now follows the CBCS system of education. Smart equipments like computers, projectors etc. are also used to conduct smart classes. Our department eyes to provide good structural knowledge of the language with qualified teachers while communicating the students in Sanskrit, so that the students have good communicating skills and they can read and understand the old gem-like texts composed in Sanskrit from their own. Our department is eyeing to enrich students with moral values like ‘सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः’ or ‘वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम्’ even in this world of competition, which were taught by eminent sages and scholarly seers through their compositions in Sanskrit with providing honours degrees to grow in life.
