As one premiere institute of the formerly District of Burdwan and presently the District of Paschim Bardhaman, Bidhan Chandra College, Asansol, has long been engaged in the dissemination of knowledge and culture amongst the students from mainly the borderlands of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Proud of its rich heritage as the only college being named after one of the founders of modern India, Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy during his lifetime, with its foundation stone being laid by none other than Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrisnan, this institute has recently entered into a new phase of cultivation of knowledge with its accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council under University Grants Commission.
The college now gives special attention to attaining the level of national standard set by UGC and is going through major changes towards infrastructure and quality enhancement, while remaining committed to the basic courses of study. Coping with the CBCS system introduced by the newly founded affiliating university, Kazi Nazrul University, the entire course management is made to be more exploring and based on students’ needs.
At this crucial juncture of its history all the wings of our institutions promise to welcome each and every newcomer to a cordial environment of learning and sharing.
With best wishes
Dr Falguni Mukhopadhyay,
Principal, Bidhan Chandra College, Asansol
